When you are preparing to write copy for any purpose.
I’m going to share a tip that works in all scenarios. You just need to think, feel and write (3) in threes. It will help give your writing a framework, function and flow (3). It helps you to cultivate, generate, and collate (3) your ideas. It’s what I call the magic of 3. Let me show you: I started a learning journey many years ago, from education to professional development to self development (3). My self development journey started with books (learning on my own) then seminars (learning with others) then experiential education (where the content provides the context for you to experience your own personal transformation unique to the person sitting next to you) (3). Everything you want to say can be said with the magic of 3. Why did I pick 3? I started to notice over the years that 3 seemed to be a special number, I wasn’t even aware, I was just doing it naturally (3).. That’s where the title of my page comes from - copydraft. My first draft is always just ready to go. I write copy by trusting my intuition, using my why and using the magic of 3(3)! When you place decorative cushions on your lounge - what works? - the magic number is 3! When you buy candles for your dining room table - what works? - the magic number is 3. 3 nights is the magic number to wait for your little one to sleep through, I have 3 kids and in my experience, if they slept through three nights that was the magic key for me. Wait three weeks for a new routine to establish. This is a whole other topic I could write about but I won’t for now. Just remember you’ll know after it happens and not before and when you count back the number will magically be three. So that is the magic of 3. If you’re writing a presentation, a speech or script for video use (3). 3 concepts are easier to recall. Try it for yourself and see how you go. Everything will start to show up when you start looking for it. This isn’t just an exercise for writing copy. This is a practice for becoming intentional, becoming aware and ultimately, manifesting what you want to show up. If you can do it with copy, with words, you can do it with anything you set your mind to! Comment, ask a question and share what’s opening up for you!

As quoted from the movie, Blade Runner 2049
The right cause. What is the right cause for you? I know what it is for me and I’ll share to help open up your thinking. I have always loved movies. What’s the saying? art mimics life. I studied film through university. I have something to say about every film and movie I watch. Blade runner the Original was one the movies we had to study as part of our film study. I don’t remember exactly everything but I remember the movie. Movies evoke a feeling within you. If they’re made well you wont need to think about the dialogue and the scripting it will feel like you are just sharing a moment in the movie. This is just like what your life is like. The difference is in a movie you’ll hear the hero’s journey. You’ll hear their inner voice. Hold on you can hear your own inner voice too! You know the one. It’s the one that makes decisions about everything that is going on, everything it sees and everything it hears. Just think that your whole life has been a series of vignettes, or Aha! Moments or epiphanys!!!! Just like the ones you see in the movies. Can you see your life flash before you? Can you recognise those pivotal life changing moments that made you say yes, I am the right version of myself, a human being able to take on any challenge, hurdle or barrier... Can I recognise what made the difference for me in those moments? For example, in late 2018 I required unexpected and urgent medical attention. Surgery soon followed and I asked myself is this it? After that I vowed to never ever let anything get in my way of the privilege of life. This was another element of my why adding to my already strong why: In 2007, I found my cause, my why, my purpose in life, that is to honour my heritage and ancestors. I had an experiential epiphany. A moment where I got to personally feel connected to the sacrifices and struggles my grandparents made for our lives. I vowed to honour my heritage and live my life in a way that would make my grandparents proud of me. |
AuthorHi my name is Angela. I have loved writing since I was able to hold a pencil in my hand. I soon learnt I had a gift of connecting with my ancestors through writing before my 30th birthday. Categories
